Last night Senator McConnell (R-KY) secured industrial hemp onto the Farm Bill. This will, “…provide certainty to thousands of farm families while also protecting important tools like crop insurance. After today’s important vote, Kentucky farmers are one step closer to having the opportunity to tap into the growing hemp market” he commented yesterday. McConnell was able to get hemp onto the Farm Bill without the Grassley amendment that would have kept CBD as a schedule 1 substance. This is great news and fantastic progress! but, we must keep our eyes open. Senator Grassley (R-IA) is likely to try to add this amendment again down the line.
This wouldn’t have been possible without any of your support! The National Hemp Association also sent out this thank you to everyone who helped:
The Grassley Amendment Fails!
Thankfully the amendment that sought to keep CBD a schedule one substance has failed to make it into the Farm Bill. Thank you to everyone that called or contacted their Senator. Advocacy works!
With the Committee’s approval of the Farm Bill, Senator McConnell announced the legislation will go before the full Senate for consideration before July 4th

While we can breathe a collective sigh of relief, we have to remain vigilant through the rest of the process.
Stay tuned for further updates and again a big thank you to all that responded to this morning’s call to action!
